About the Item

This is a handsome Italian Neoclassical partner desk, crafted circa 1800, that features detailed marquetry work. The desktop features a central foliate inlay medallion that is framed by a geometric border with foliate inlays at each corner. The wood is masterfully angled so the grain creates a natural diamond effect. Each side of this partner desk features on central drawer and two on either side - totaling 10 drawers. The face of each drawer features a lovely inlaid continuous border. Side panels feature inlay and woodwork reflecting the desktop creating a harmonious design. The desk stands on eight square tapered legs. This desk echos the periods focus on balance and proportion. Please note natural hairline cracks that have formed in the wood as a result of age.
