Neoclassical Louis XVI Style Bronze Mounted Marble Top Console Desk
About the Item
Opulent French lacquered console table or petite writing desk crafted from mahogany with a chic light sky blue lacquered finish. The desk features a marble top with a thick patinated brass border. The table is fronted by two storage drawers with square bail pulls and bronze trim. The top is supported by elegant tapered legs having bronze trim and ending with patinated brass sabots. The desk is designed in the grand French neoclassical Louis XVI taste. The narrow size makes it a versatile piece that could also serve as a console table. The table is sturdy with solid joinery. The 20th century construction has a later added lacquer finish that lightens the design and adds a bit of whimsy. Made in the manner and style of Maison Janson. The bronze and brass have a desirable aged patina on the finish. Ample leg room measuring 23.5 inches from floor to apron.
