About the Item

A 'Datillo' petite writing desk / table by Paolo Buffa and produced by Galdino Maspero in stained beech wood and walnut. With two drawers on the left hand side underneath a rectangular shaped top and supported on elegantly splayed legs. The rounded banded carving on the drawers and apron add texture and depth to the design, while the flat top provides a practical work surface. The whole masterfully balances elegance and functionality which Buffa was so well known for in his work. By Paolo Buffa, Italy, circa 1940 Manufactured by Galdino Maspero Size: 27" high x 33 1/4" wide x 17 1/4" deep x 25 1/4" apron height Paolo Buffa (b. 1903, Milan – d. 1970) was a highly sought after Italian furniture designer, renowned for executing designs pairing elements of the opulent Neoclassical period with streamlined Art Deco style, resulting in pieces that exhibited a glamorous, old-world, yet modern aesthetic.
