About the Item

This is a beautiful antique dining set comprising a William IV mahogany dining table, circa 1835 in date and a beautiful set of 12 Vintage Regency style dining chairs. This striking table has three original leaves and can sit twelve people in comfort and it has been handcrafted from solid flame mahogany which has a beautiful grain. The three leaves can be added or removed as required to suit the occasion and can be easily removed and stored away when not required. The table is raised on four beautiful faceted tapering legs which have been masterfully hand-carved and they terminate in their original brass and porcelain castors which makes it easy to move when required. The set of 12 English made Regency style tulip back dining chairs date from the last quarter of the 20th century and compliment the table perfectly. The set comprises ten side chairs and two armchairs, all of which feature an attractive tulip back design and 'drop in' seats that have been upholstered in the finest olive green alkantara fabric. These chairs have been masterfully crafted in beautiful solid mahogany throughout and the finish and attention to detail on display are truly breathtaking. Whatever the function of this gorgeous set, it will make a profound impression on your dinner guests and will receive the maximum amount of attention wherever it is placed. Dimensions in inches: Height 2 feet, 6 inches x width 10 feet, 6 inches x depth 4 feet - when fully extended Height 2 feet, 6 inches x width 4 feet, 9 inches x depth 4 feet - With all 3 leaves removed Height 2 feet, 11 inches x width 1 foot, 8 inches x depth 1 foot, 9 inches - chairs Height 2 feet, 11 inches x width 1 foot, 10 inches x depth 1 foot, 10 inches - armchairs Flame Mahogany Thomas Sheraton - 18th century furniture designer, once characterized mahogany as "best suited to furniture where strength is demanded as well as a wood that works up easily, has a beautiful figure and polishes so well that it is an ornament to any room in which it may be placed." Matching his words to his work, Sheraton designed much mahogany furniture. The qualities that impressed Sheraton are particularly evident in a distinctive pattern of wood called "flame mahogany." The flame figure in the wood is revealed by slicing through the face of the branch at the point where it joins another element of the tree. Our reference: 07400a
