About the Item

A beautiful dining suite of twelve (12) American dining chairs in solid mahogany comprising of two armchairs & ten side chairs, and a matching 12 ft. long solid mahogany dining table, all in the Hepplewhite style. Chairs feature a shield-back with carved fleur-de-lis and swags on the pierced back, and a serpentine front with upholstered slip seat. The dining table, which is also in solid mahogany, has two pedestals, each with turned column & four saber legs for added stability. Legs are reeded & end in a box brass caster. This dining set was purchased from Hemenway Furniture Company in Alexandria, Louisiana (from their New Orleans store) between 1945 & 1950. Table & chairs have been restored. Side chair: 20 1/2" wide x 22 1/2" deep x 39" high (seat 19 1/2" high) Armchair: 23" wide x 22 1/2" deep x 39 1/2" high (seat 19 1/2" high) mahogany Table fully open: 146.5" long (12' 2.5") x 52" wide x 30" high (Each leaf is 21" wide) With 1 leaf: 105" long x 52" wide x 30" high Closed without leaves: 84" long x 52" wide x 30" high As designed, if the table were to be used with 2 leaves, we could modify it (for an additional amount) so that there is a shorter support under the table. The dimensions would then be: 125.5" long x 54 wide x 30 high Seats 12 when fully open with 3 leaves (very comfortable seating, ample space between chairs) Seats 10 with 1 leaf Seats 8 without the use of any leaves
