Avant-gardist, minimalist & art collector
Martin Visser (1922-2009) is one of the Netherland's most famous furniture designers. Because of his work for the furniture department of 'De Bijenkorf' (kind of 'Harrods'), Visser was asked to become chief designer at 'Spectrum' in 1954.
This turned out to be a golden opportunity; his sleek designs and functional approach to design were defining for the collection for a long time. During his 20 years as chief designer, Visser associated big names with Spectrum, including Gerrit Rietveld, Friso Kramer, Hein Stolle, Constant Nieuwenhuys, Kho Liang Ie and Benno Premsela who designed furniture for the collection.
