Finn Juhl Model B065 teak extendable dining table for Bovirke, Denmark, 1950s

About the Item

A model BO65 extendable dining table designed by Finn Juhl and manufactured by the Danish cabinetmaker Bovirke. Created in 1952, this model features a sleek and minimalist aesthetic with clean lines, organic shapes, and impeccable craftsmanship. Made from solid teak wood, the table measures 140x95x72cm in its standard form. However, thanks to two removable leaves, the table can be expanded to a length of 240x95x72cm, providing additional space for larger gatherings or special occasions. The dining table has been professionally sanded and oiled and it is in perfect vintage condition. About the designer: Finn Juhl (1912-1989), is a Danish architect and designer widely recognised as one of the most influential figures in mid-century modern design, particularly in Denmark. His furniture designs are characterised by their innovative and visionary approach, pushing the boundaries of traditional design conventions. Juhl's work played a significant role in defining the "Danish Modern" design movement, which gained global recognition in the mid-20th century. His designs were acclaimed for their elegance, simplicity, and functionality, making them highly sought after by collectors and design enthusiasts alike. Juhl's furniture pieces, including chairs, tables, and cabinets, were often crafted from natural materials such as teak wood and featured innovative joinery techniques that demonstrated his exceptional attention to detail and craftsmanship.
