Jose Zanine Caldas Moveis Denuncia Dining Table - Authenticated with COA

About the Item

Absolutely stunning dining table by Brazilian master Jose Zanine Caldas. Beautifully organic, yet modern. Very rare, from his heralded "Moveis Denuncia" series. Comes with notarized certificate of authenticity from his architect son Euclides Zanine Caldas Neto. This certification has accompanied past lots of Zanine Caldas at auction houses such as Christies and Wright Design. "Zanine returned to the furniture design after he witnessed wood from the Atlantic Forest being disposed of as scrap in loggings in Nova Visoca. Inspired by local expertise, he started creating sculptural, functional pieces that perserved the characteristics of the natural material, which became known as Moveis Denuncia (Protest Furniture). His intention was to value the wood and at the same time bring awareness to the deforestation process." - Olhares Jose Zanine Caldas, known simply as Zanine, was one of Brazil's foremost architects and furniture designers up until his death in 2001. A retrospective exhibition of his works was held adjacent to the Louvre at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris in 1989. Zanine was one of the first truly ecologically conscious artists; he worked exclusively with reclaimed timber for the construction of his homes and the custom furniture that would make up the interiors of his commissions.
