Kayak Teak Dining Table by Gisbert Pöppler

About the Item

Kayak teak dining table by Gisbert Pöppler Dimensions: D 320 x W 110 x H 75 cm Materials: Maple wood Perfectly balanced and sturdy like the sleek boat and hunter of the arctic, the Kayak dinner table is a playful construction of wood and steel. Four glossy circles puncture the table top indicating the cylinders supporting it and interrupt the gentile grain of the surface. The wooden top has a trim that neatly angles outward like a rolled Kayak, while the legs below are joined together with a technical yet sculptural approach reminiscent of the framework for its namesake vessel. This table easily sits eight to ten people comfortably and adds the perfect sporty element into its environment. Gisbert Pöppler studied architecture at California College of Arts and Crafts, San Francisco and Technische Universität, Berlin, graduating in 1996 with a Diplom Ingenieur. After completing his studies he spent several years working for various firms in Berlin, developing new architecture after the German re-unification. In 1999 Gisbert Pöppler founded Prinz–Pöppler, a partnership with architect Ilona Prinz – together creating office environments for start-up organizations filling the dynamic Berlin landscape. Since 2004 Gisbert Pöppler has been working independently as a full-service architectural studio, offering unconventional end-to-end design solutions for corporate and residential clients. All of their upholstery pieces are COM prices. The prices do not include any fabric.

Breakfast Patio Table by Gisbert Pöppler
Located in Geneve, CH
Breakfast patio table by Gisbert Pöppler Dimensions: D 80 x W 80 x H 72 cm Materials: Glazed lavastone The simplicity of forms and cheerful glazed colors of this side table make it suitable for almost any space, outdoor or inside. This petit furniture is a bit more robust than it appears, being cut and shaped out of lava stone from the foot of Sicily’s famous volcano, Mt. Etna. The three pieces have been glazed in a kiln at 950 degrees, using an ancient technique developed in this region called Majolica, that protects them with a robust surface suitable for outdoor use and provides the translucent colors with a slight craquelé for the finish. All of their upholstery pieces are COM prices. The prices do not include any fabric. Dining Table by Danish Cabinetmaker in Teak and Maple
Located in Waalwijk, NL
Cabinetmaker, dining table, maple, teak, Denmark, 1940s This dining table was designed by a Danish furniture maker, whose identity is unfortunately not yet known. The designer clearly understood how to design a high-quality piece of furniture. The avocado-shaped tabletop is executed in maple and surrounded by a teak rim that emphasizes the delicate round form. The base consists of slim legs that are secured to the table via carved beams...

Gubi Atmosfera Natural teak Dining Table Designed by GUBI
By Gubi
Located in New York, NY
The tables’ simple aesthetics maintain an understated poise with a nod to classic references without being too formal. The tabletops are made from rhythmic, repeating slats of solid, premium teak, enclosed by a frame made from the same slats, giving a minimalist feel. The table legs are formed from two vertical slats, using a miter joint that creates an inverted ‘L-shape’ on each corner. Referencing architectural and maritime design, the unusual leg design provides both structural support and visual interest, giving the piece a certain lightness. Each leg protrudes slightly above the tabletop surface, culminating in a rounded detail in contrast to the geometric lines of the structure, that gives a calm composure to the design.
