Mario Botta Tesi table Alias 1986

About the Item

Mario Botta, a key figure in contemporary architecture and design, was born on April 1, 1943 in Mendrisio, in the canton of Ticino in Switzerland. From a young age, he was interested in drawing, an activity he practiced to compensate for fragile health and physical restrictions imposed during his childhood. This early taste for art and architecture led him to leave school at the age of 15 to become a building designer. He completed his first project, a family home, at just 16 years old, thus affirming an early vocation. This dining room table or desk, titled the "Tesi" model from 1986, was designed by Mario Botta and produced by Alias. The perforated sheet steel structure is lacquered black with a rectangular glass top.
