About the Item

A beautiful Brazilian Midcentury Modern dining table with amazing pattern wood finish by Novo Rumo, produced in the 1960s. The tabletop features a flamed grain pattern and stunning colour in exotic wood veneer, with solid wood rounded edges along the longer sides of the table and a flat edge on the shorter sides. The frame has sculptural legs, stretcher bar and angled brutalist feet, a unique design approach. A distinctive silhouette, a perfectly fit for Contemporary or Modern styled homes. We sourced this piece as part of a family collection in Sao Paulo, together with a set of Novo Rumo dining chairs, which are still part of our inventory. Moveis Novo Rumo was a furniture studio and manufacture in São Paulo founded by Francesco Scapinelli: architect and ceramist, brother of celebrated designer Giuseppe Scapinelli. Novo Rumo produced excellent quality furniture at Industrial scale, using quality hard wood from Brazil. Their pieces are always inventive, have unique designs and are of high quality craftsmanship. The design of this table- and many other items produced by Novo Rumo- resembles George Zalszupin's design, and often mistaken as his work, or from Zalszupin’s manufacture company, L’Atelier- due to his close collaboration to Moveis Novo Rumo production and also because employees of L’Atelier left the company to join Novo Rumo.
