About the Item

This rare Mid-Century walnut dining table, Model 303, designed by Florence Knoll for Knoll Associates in 1957, exemplifies the pinnacle of American modernist design. Crafted from rich walnut, the table features a smooth, warm finish that highlights the wood’s natural grain, with a sleek, rectangular top supported by elegantly tapered legs. The inclusion of leaves allows for expandable seating, making it a versatile centerpiece for intimate dinners or larger gatherings. As a rare model, its distinctive design—characterized by clean lines and understated sophistication—reflects Knoll’s innovative approach, making it a coveted piece for collectors and a stunning addition to any dining room or curated interior. Its timeless craftsmanship continues to inspire design enthusiasts. Florence Knoll (1917–2019) was a pioneering American designer, architect, and the creative force behind Knoll Associates’ furniture division. Trained at the Cranbrook Academy of Art under Eliel Saarinen and later influenced by Mies van der Rohe, Knoll revolutionized modern interior design in the mid-20th century. Joining Knoll Associates in the 1940s, she introduced the “Knoll Planning Unit” and designed iconic pieces like the Model 303 table, blending functionality with minimalist elegance. Her work earned her numerous awards, including the National Medal of Arts, cementing her legacy as a trailblazer in the design world. Knoll Associates, founded in 1938 by Hans and Florence Knoll in New York, became a cornerstone of Mid-Century Modern furniture manufacturing. Based in the USA, the company collaborated with leading designers like Florence Knoll, Eero Saarinen, and Mies van der Rohe to produce innovative, high-quality pieces that defined modernist interiors. Known for its commitment to craftsmanship and design excellence, Knoll introduced iconic furniture and textiles, including the rare Model 303 table. Today, Knoll remains a globally recognized brand, cherished by collectors and designers for its enduring style and legacy. ---Dimensions--- Extended Width: 84 in / 213.36 cm Width: 56 in / 142.24 cm Depth: 38 in / 96.52 cm Height: 28.5 in / 72.39 cm This artfully designed and crafted expansion dining table designed by the legendary Florence Knoll has recently undergone a comprehensive and transformative restoration process.
