"Slagboard" dining table with wings
About the Item
Wing-opening table, called in Swedish 'Slagboard' (translated to 'battle table').
This model was produced in the 1950s and is made of varnished pine wood.
Originating in Sweden, it is very much in use in Northern Europe for furnishing both the most restrained and the most sophisticated settings.
A sturdy dining table that can be extended on both sides and comfortably seats 6 people.
The reason for the widespread use of this type of furniture in Scandinavia was due to its great functionality and durability: in fact, this could be placed even in small rooms and could be opened when needed.
The solid wood used in the construction guarantees durability for another two hundred years, and you can try your hand, as is customary in the north, at painting the table in the shades you prefer.
Good condition. A conservative restoration has been done. It may show some signs of aging. Please pay attention to the photographs.
