About the Item
Very nice table from the 1940s in solid oak in the manner of Victor Courtray, Charles Dudouyt, very nice patina, some traces of wear on the top consistent with age, good condition. Has its extensions. Width 96cm. Length 160cm. Height 71cm. Length with extensions 276 cm
Victor Courtray:
The second period of Victor Courtray's production is more regionalist and appears quickly after his installation in the southwest. It follows the exhaustion of the Art Deco style which occurred around 1930. The designer then operated a simplification of traditional Spanish furniture, in stylized wood with engraved patterns, which he reinterpreted in a modern way, which is why we readily mention the " neo-Basque” to describe his style. The typology of the different armchairs and chairs, the floor lamps, the pedestal tables covered with a marble or Vilhonneur stone top, have a modernity characteristic of Courtray's productions at the time of its recognition in the south-west of France.
