About the Item

Vico Magistretti Edison Table For Cassina An elegant system of cross-shaped connectors used in gas lamps gave Vico Magistretti the idea for this glass table that grew out of a desire to express the beauty of industrial architecture. Prized by the renowned architect, he took it home as the dining table for his house in Milan. Edison narrates industrial modernity through the ready-made concept. In this case, a technical solution sparked the idea for an original design that puts on display a design found in Milan’s old gas company. Clearly made up of two parts, Edison is a design table with a jointed structure that changes configuration based on the shape of the table top. The top comes in rectangular, square or round shape and only in glass, to allow the underlying structure to be admired. STRUCTURE Steel structure painted matt black or matt becco d’oca (orange). TOP 15mm thick tempered float glass. AESTHETIC JOINTS In cast aluminium painted matt black or matt becco d’oca (orange). Round Table W 240, D 110 H 74 W 210 D 110 H 74 Rectangular Table W 150 D 150 H 74 W 165 D 165 H 7 Inspired by the ready-made concept, Edison is the table Vico Magistretti designed in 1985 as a tribute to the elegance of industrial design, expressed through the special system of cross-shaped joints used to connect the pipes for gas lamps. A system borrowed by the architect to create the load-bearing structure for the table. Depending on the shape of the table top, the structure changes configuration in order to support the glass, material of choice because it allows the joint system to be visible. Edison is the table Magistretti preferred for the dining room in his own home in Milan and that Cassina relaunches with square, rectangular or round top. Ico Parisi Olimpino Table by Cassina
By Cassina, Ico Parisi
Located in Barcelona, Barcelona
Table designed by Ico Parisi in 1955, relaunched in 2020. Manufactured by Cassina in Italy. Designed in 1955, the design of this table – a piece of furniture considered by Ico Parisi to be a central element in the home - accompanies the Maestro’s career and evolves with different materials. The Olimpino table has a slender, bold and recognisable square section tubular metal frame made of two pairs of "Y" shaped uprights, whose upper inner arms converge to join under the top, while the outer arms diverge to block the rectangular plate of the top, in monolithic tempered glass, with a brass side stopper. The legs, thus paired, are strengthened with a double crossbar, also in metal, which opens near the sides and forms a double "V" shape. The solid wood arrow...

Important dining table Mod 781 by Vico Magistretti for Cassina
By Vico Magistretti, Cassina
Located in Milano, IT
The Model 781 dining table, designed by Vico Magistretti for Cassina in the 1960s-1970s, is a masterpiece of Italian design that embodies the perfect synthesis of elegance and functionality. This piece represents a benchmark for lovers of minimalist design, thanks to its clean geometric lines and the formal rigor that characterizes Magistretti's work. Structure in Walnut Wood and Top in Aniline Testa di Moro. The table's frame is made of solid walnut wood, a fine material that lends strength and durability to the piece of furniture. The table top, finished in dark brown aniline, creates a refined contrast with the wood, offering a balance between tradition and modernity. In the center of the top is a distinctive detail: a square in dark brown foil that enriches the design with a contemporary touch. The table's legs are the real focal point of its design. Made of turned wood with a rounded, tubular shape, they feature elegant indentations and sharp carvings that demonstrate the craftsmanship behind this piece. The legs not only provide stability to the table, but also become an eye-catching decorative element, enriching the design with a sculptural and sophisticated touch. he Model 781 table...
