About the Item
20th c., American, a beautifully crafted Biedermeier-style round dining table made from figured walnut with parcel-ebonized accents. The table's exquisite pedestal base, intricately carved in a quatrefoil shape, is a standout feature, adding a touch of elegance to its classic design.
This table offers great versatility with its extendable feature, coming with two 27" wide leaves. One of these leaves is fitted with apron sides for a seamless look, while the other provides a more functional extension. When closed, the table measures 29" high and 50" in diameter, perfect for an intimate setting. Fully extended, it reaches an impressive 104" in length, making it ideal for larger gatherings or family dinners. When extended four hidden table legs drop down to provide additional stability. The extension mechanism was very likely made by The Watertown Table-Slide Company in Watertown, Wisconsin.

About:
The Watertown Table-Slide Co. was established in 1889. The company patented and manufactured wooden slides for extension tables. Furniture manufacturers from all over the country bought extension slides from the Watertown Table-Slide Co. The firm was sold to Reiss Industries in 1985.
Note: This table comes with a custom made 0.5" thick table pad in four sections sized to work with all configurations of the table. It has a 550 heat rating and a Duru-velvet underside. See photos.
