Marvelous vintage Modern to Postmodern maple square dining table with blue laminate inlaid top designed by Michael Graves for Craftwood a Division of Sonnenberg Ind. Ltd. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear even if it has been refinished or restored. Specifically, it has been totally refinished. There is a scratch on the laminate top we have done our best to disguise but it is still visible. Please see photos, zoom in for details, and see long description as they are part of the condition report. We attempt to portray any imperfections. Circa, Late 20th Century. This is a MAGNIFICENT vintage Modern to Postmodern square dining table comprised of straight narrow rectangular maple legs and a beautiful blue laminate inlaid top designed by Michael Graves for Craftwood a Division of Sonnenberg Ind. Ltd. It was specified by Michael Graves who redesigned the Topeka Public Library in 1998. The rest of the project’s furniture for the 100,000 square foot addition specified by him as well. He collaborated with several celebrity designers and created some of the most avant-garde and high style furniture in the 1980’s. SUPER COOL!!!! The construction method of this table is celebrated with a marvelous square tabletop featuring a lovely blue laminate inlaid surface surrounded by a marvelous maple edge, four straight, narrow maple legs, & lower apron. In addition to being great looking… it is very sturdy! Michael Graves was born July 9, 1934, in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was an American architect, educator, designer, and principal of Michael Graves & Associates and Michael Graves Design Group. He earned his master’s degree in architecture from Harvard University in 1959. He began his career in 1962 as a professor at Princeton University where he taught for nearly four decades and would later establish The Michael Graves College at Kean University in New Jersey. He also established his own architectural firm in 1964 at Princeton, New Jersey. He worked as an architect in public practice designing a variety of buildings that included private residences, university buildings, hotel resorts, hospitals, retail and commercial office buildings, museums, civic buildings, and monuments. His career spanned nearly fifty years designing over 350 iconic buildings, museums, libraries, residences, and over 2,000 household products and furnishings. He designed several buildings for Walt Disney Company, Disney’s New York Hotel, and the Swan resorts at Walt Disney World. He worked alongside other iconic designers such as George Nelson, who was a creative designer for Herman Miller, Charles & Ray Eames, and Alexander Girard to name a few. He has consumer product designs located in Target and JC Penny in the United States and Alessi in Italy. He has been described as one of the most prominent and prolific American architects of the late 20th Century. Mr. Graves passed away in 2015. Craftwood was established in 1962 as a division of Sonnenberg Ind. Ltd. The company is in Scarborough, Onterio Canada and operates with a pledge of unsurpassed, high quality custom woodworks with uncompromising attention to details. They have gained international recognition within the architectural and design communities. They have collaborated with many well-known designers & architects and completed many successful projects throughout North America and abroad. Fantastic vintage Modern to Postmodern maple pedestal base round coffee table with blue laminate inlaid top designed by Michael Graves for Craftwood a Division of Sonnenberg Ind. Ltd. The wood base was repaired and filled prior to refinishing & there were little nicks in the laminate that were filled & colored. This is a GORGEOUS vintage Modern to Postmodern round coffee table with a cylindrical maple pedestal base and a lovely blue laminate inlaid top designed by Michael Graves for Craftwood a Division of Sonnenberg Ind.
