Early And Authentic Antique Oak Gate Leg Table

About the Item

An early timeworn and likely English Antique Gate leg oak table. With two demilune form drop leaves, one on either end. The table has six feet with four feet and stretcher supports with turned legs and two legs can swing out to support the leaves when raised. Condition: Various signs of age and use include stable age to the table top, Drop leaves don't sit perfectly flush when raised, stable split to trim near the corner of the center leaf on one end, One foot supporting the central leaf has losses and is not in the form of the others. Wear throughout commensurate with age and use incudes work and use marks, stains and burns to the top surface. Despite the wear and losses the Table presents in an authentic and admirable manner. A very fine and complex well-crafted drop leaf table with rectangular top inlaid overall in fine scrolled marquetry details. The top panel with scrolling vines emanating from two vessels, framed by a scrolling vine wide band. Each rounded leaf with coordinating center panels and bands. The two frieze drawers with foliate scrolls framing the brass key holes (one lock is missing).
