17th century Hand Carved Antique Side Farm Table Desk Center Drawer Los Angeles. W&M table in light Oakwood with center drawer. These tables were used in the Mas and Manoir. It's the perfect to your home as a side table, between two chairs, to have a chinoiserie piece of art on top. Or as a small bureau desk. End table, farm table, console, game table, serving table, or a sofa table. Dramatic yet simple but also thin and lightweight, with elegant curves and opulence. Aesthetically, it was influenced by the Dutch and Flemish traditions of Prince William's homeland, as well as the Baroque movement in art. Dutch prince took the throne of England, That prince was William of Orange, who married king James' daughter Mary and ruled the country with her from 1689-1694. William and Mary changed many things about English society, including its taste in furniture. The fall of the medieval furniture which were heavy, thick, and blocky. Instead, William brought with him Dutch and Flemish furniture making traditions, which tended to emphasize lighter, versatile, and more comfortable forms such as this beautiful table. Baluster legs joined by simple stretchers, standing on original turned bun feet shows the signs of the many centuries. It could be perfect for a side table, between two chairs. In the bedroom it could work as a single nightstand, to host a table lamp or decorative elements. General marks, nicks, scratches, cracking, fading and wear commensurate with age and use. Pulls replaced. With plugged holes to drawer fronts from old pulls. Circular scars around pulls from drop wear.
