19th Century French Neoclassical Round Painted End Table with Carrara Marble Top
About the Item
19th century French Neoclassical Round Painted End Table with carrara Marble Top is the perfect choice for making an impressive style statement without being pretentious. Called a gueridon in France, it has been handcrafted from solid fruitwood by capable artisans, it features a round framework interrupted every 90 degrees with a boldly carved rectangular rosette under which each of the tapered and contoured legs are attached. The legs are also attached below with bowed stretchers, and the feet underneath that are miniature versions of the leg designs. The entire framework has been given a painted finish many years ago which has achieved a lovely patina and hint of distressing that is so visually appealing. On top we find a luxurious piece of carrara marble with beveled edge, the choice of famous European sculptors for the thousands of years!
