COD-1717 Melchiorre Bega Rare coffee table with turned wooden legs and brass cross, thick cut glass top. Bega&Co. manufacture, Bologna, around 1950. Melchiorre Bega (1898-1976) trained as an architect and later became a designer. He is well known for his very well detailed functionalist and modern design. Bega rejected the Art Deco style that prevailed at the time. Bega works only with highly professional specialized craftsmen, designs and builds hundreds of shops and showrooms for major brands of the time such as Motta, Alemagna, Martini, Galtrucco etc. In the early 1940s he directed the famous Domus magazine founded by his dear friend Gio Ponti for a few years.
