Mahogany pedestal table, attributed to J. Leleu, Art Deco – 1940

About the Item

Art Deco mahogany pedestal table, attributed to the renowned French designer and decorator Jules-Emile Leleu (1883-1961). Awarded an Officer of the Order of Arts and Letters, Leleu is known for furnishing major French ocean liners and administrative buildings around the world. This circular pedestal table features a vertical veneer apron. The recessed top forms a right angle. The underside is slightly molded and ebonized. The so-called cruciform shaft is composed of four elements joined at an angle, forming columns with half-round facades. The entire structure rests on a base in the shape of a four-leaf clover, set with a chrome-plated metal band. This pedestal table, with its understated yet atypical style, will appeal to fans of Leleu's creations. ******** Period: 1940 Excellent condition with its original varnish. Some signs of wear.
