About the Item

These beautiful and unusual round tables (or guéridons) were crafted by the leading bronze manufacturer of the French Belle Époque, the Barbedienne foundry. Established in 1838, the company specialized in the production of artistic bronzes for an elite European clientele, which included members of royalty and the nobility. The Barbedienne factory won many prizes for the bronzes they showcased at the International Exhibitions of the 1850s and 1860s. The tables are signed, 'F. BARBEDIENNE'. The tables feature circular, white-veined red marble tops, which are set on gilt bronze (ormolu) supports. These are comprised of shaped stems and three curved legs, which are decorated with pierced, vine-like forms, and linked by a stretcher. The legs terminate in paw feet, placed on circular bases.
