Malachite a semi precious stone which was mined as early as 4000 BC
The stones name derives derives of the Latin word molochitis.
Malachite has often been used for decorative purposes over the centuries.
The green Malachite colors are very rich and pairs well with gold, copper and silver.
The Hermitage Museum and Castillo de Chapultepec both contain a Malachite room.
During the 19th century in the time of Tsar Nicolas I decorative items of malachite were among the
most popular diplomatic gifts.
