Late 19th Century Swedish Round Solid Cast Iron Table
About the Item
Rustic solid cast iron table made in Sweden during the late 1800s by Skoglund & Olson. The company was established in 1874 by Erik Gustaf Skoglund and Axel Olson as a foundry in Gävle. This table is on the smaller side but stands solid and robust due to it being made in iron. The material and patina creates an attractive contrast to the more delicate detailing on the leg and foot.
The surface of the table is raw and waxed and it can be used both inside and outside. It would make a good fit for both a greenhouse or patio as much as a living room or hallway for an extra antique detail and character. The table is marked on the foot. The foot itself is round and ornamented with claw feet.

Round Outdoor Table, Hand-Carved Sandstone Round Outdoor Table by S. Odegard
By Stephanie Odegard Collection
Located in New York, NY
This round outdoor table is designed by Paul Mathieu for Stephanie Odegard.
This is a hand-carved, hand-crafted round outdoor table.
When the renowned designer Paul Mathieu first saw the extraordinary swirling colours and patterning of the modern Indian sandstone “Rainbow Teakwood” he realized that he had discovered the perfect material for round outdoor tables that would combine the look of both stone and wood.
The table tops are cut to display the unique patterning characteristic of the stone, which resembles the appearance of wood cut across the grain. The massive yet deceptively elegant curved bases are each carved from a solid block of stone. Due to the size of these blocks, they must be quarried with the grain in the stone, not across the grain as the tabletops. The bases therefore have a similar appearance, but do not display the swirling grain as much, which would be distracting. Both tops and bases come sealed from the quarry. The different graining patterns show the sealer slightly differently, the bases looking “more dry” than the top. No two tables will be alike.
