About the Item

Side table handmade in England in the early 1700s using oak and peg construction. The table is a beautiful example of Jacobean style, and the centuries of life are beautifully shown in its patina and color. The top features two boards with ogee edge, where a the apron is flat and decorated with a small hand-carved molding applied to its bottom. On the front, the apron holds an inset drawer with flat front and beautiful hand-made dovetail joints. The legs are made of alternating blocks and hand-turned sections, and are connected with a bottom hand-turned I-stretcher, as well as another two stretcher placed in the front and back about half-way up the legs. This is a beautiful and very old piece that will work well as a side table as well as an entry table in a small apartment. Because of its color and age it will add both warmth as well as a touch of elegance and history to any room it is added.
