19th Century Country English Victorian Painted Washstand

About the Item

Distinctive weathered early 19th century Victorian washstand featuring a rustic painted finish. Country English style with a two-tier design. The tops of both tiers appear to have had a faux-marble painted Trompe l'oeil style finish that has since worn away with only remnants. The top has a gallery with a small shelf and shaped sides. The stand is fronted by a single drawer with two round wood pulls. The top is supported by turned legs ending with peg feet. The case has fine details and pinstripe accents. Purchased from an antique shop near Cambridge, England.

Wear consistent with age and use. Beautifully crafted with solid joinery and construction. Aged, distressed patina on painted finish as seen in photos. Age appropriate wear with chips, scuffs, scratches, and losses to painted finish.
