19th Century Italian Walnut Side Table / Writing Desk
About the Item
Empire side table / writing desk hand-made in Italy in the early 1800s using walnut. The table is very elegant in proportions and features two inset drawers of with beautiful hand-made dovetail joints. The legs are curved and hand-carved symmetrically on the front and back. On the back the apron has a serpentine edge. The top is made of two panels nailed to the apron with square nails. The hardware is original.
Overall this is a beautiful small desk that can work as a side table, console table or even writing desk. The light color and delicate lines make it a perfect piece for a small space or even poorly lighted corner. The drawers work well and can be used on a daily basis.
