About the Item
These beautiful hand-carved solid hardwood Side Tables in Mahogany and hand applied 24Ct Gold Leaf finish were entirely hand-crafted by the wonderful Florentine craftspeople at Gallo SNC in Florence Italy
Established in 1910 by Luciano Gallo who specialised in furniture and boat building, he established his business in furniture and lighting manufacture after WWII. This amazing family workshop has continued the tradition of fine hand crafted interior furnishings since and is now run by Jacopo Gallo, still in the heart of Florence after 100 years
I designed this table for a world renowned hotel called Ashford Castle in Ireland, owned by the famed family business Red Carnation Hotels who we have had the pleasure of designing tables now for over 13 years and which grace many of their luxury establishments and cruise ships
This table was made in an exclusive run and was over ordered by 6 units which we now have available as a limited edition stock quantity - they will never be made again in this size and design - a unique opportunity to own some special pieces

Antique carved hardwood circular side table with rosewood top, Myanmar

This heavily-carved circular side table was crafted in the 19th Century in Burma (modern-day Myanmar). Myanmar is associated with the production of fine, highly-intricate wood carvings, which were often inspired by Buddhism, or pre-Buddhist Animist beliefs.
The hardwood table features a circular top, with a polished rosewood inlaid centre. This is encircled by a profusion of low-relief carvings, depicting monkeys, elephants and birds, surrounded by foliage, hills and Myanmar architecture. This band of carved ornament is ringed by a raised, pierced gallery. A curvy-edged skirt runs along the top of the table, and is deeply carved with scrolling foliage.
A baluster-shaped stem supports the table top. This has a leafy top, and foliate carved stem, with a fluted base. The stem is set on three legs with scrolled feet, which are decorated with three-dimensional carvings of wild cats and baboons.
