About the Item

A whimsical “billot de boucher” or butcher’s shop presentation table from 19th century France with a gorgeous Languedoc red marble top over a carved walnut frame. The stone is a mélange of red and white patches, shaped to rounded corners and a sloping edge that makes an exciting (and inviting) background to complement any display. The apron hosts a small drawer, with scalloped carvings along the bottom edge resembling festive pennants. Diamond appliqués on the corners draw the eye toward the robust, turned and tapering legs that introduce further pattern to the visual variety of this compact design. For the modern interior, this occasional table could be adapted to use a kind of desk or writing table but the durable stone top is perfect as a console to appreciate every angle, just as intended. Cleaned, tightened, and polished with a French paste wax this former butcher shop table is ready for your interior. Please view the detailed images.
