Japanese Antique Black Wooden Box 1860s-1900s / Side Table Nightstand Wabisabi

About the Item

This is a black wooden box made in Japan. It was made during the Meiji period (1860s-1900s) and is made of light and strong cedar wood. It is a beautiful storage box with a simple shape that eliminates waste and a calm, all-black appearance. The frayed corners and uneven coloring from years of use tell the story of the passage of time and give it a unique flavor. The simple yet deep look of the box reminds us of the Japanese aesthetic of "wabi-sabi. Simple in appearance, but highly functional, this versatile furniture can be used not only as a storage box, but also as a side table or night table. This piece is a fusion of Japanese and modern styles that blends naturally into modern life. It has been cleaned and can be used with confidence immediately upon arrival. Standing quietly, this wooden box will bring a quiet presence to your space. Weight 6kg. __________________________________________________ Our Philosophy Objects always tell the truth. All I can do is just to face with them sincerely and give them deep affection as much as I can. There is no boundary of nationalities and of eras in beauty. But I think now is the time we choose 'Japanese style' and it will be the best way to remind us of what we are losing today and to question us about an essence of beauty again. I hope that you can touch the memories which the objects here have, feel and think of something invisible but exists undoubtedly.
