Pair of Danish Teak Model 4508 Tray Tables by Fritz Hansen, 1950s

About the Item

Pair of Danish teak model 4508 tray tables designed by H. Engholm & Svend Åge Willumsen. Originally created for the staff of Fritz Hansen in 1958 it was so popular that is was later put into production for sale to the public. The clever and practical design features a tray as the table top made of curved teak veneered plywood sitting on a sculpted teak base. The legs fold down making them easy to ship and store. Although being sold as a pair they have slightly different folding mechanisms and one also retains the label of the luxury department store Illums Bolighus in Copenhagen where it was originally sold.
