A sculptural and highly collectible pair of end tables from Lane Furniture’s iconic “Perception” line, designed by Warren Church and produced on January 24, 1955. Crafted in warm walnut, these tables feature elegant proportions, a floating top design, and a bentwood crisscross base that gives them a distinct architectural presence. Each table includes a single drawer adorned with Lane’s signature woven basketweave front and an integrated pull. The drawers are stamped “Lane, Altavista, Virginia,” with a serial number confirming early 1955 production. These tables are ideal for use as nightstands or living room companions in any Mid-Century Modern or vintage-inspired interior. Dimensions (Each): 26ʺ W × 26ʺ D × 19.75ʺ H Condition: Good vintage condition with minor wear consistent with age. c. 1960s, USA, a rare pair of Harvey Probber corner tables with Macassar ebony veneer tops and dark stained tapering round wood legs. The triangular tables have a curved longside edge. The tables are unmarked and likely a custom order. Harvey Probber (1922-2003) was born in Brooklyn, New York, and designed his first sofa at age 16, selling it for $10. By the time he finished high school, he was selling sketches of furniture to companies in Manhattan. Probber was an autodidact, having very little formal training at a time when most designers had formal architectural or art degrees. He did, however, take a few night classes at Pratt Institute and had on- the-job training in furniture production while working for Trade Upholstery. After serving in the Coast Guard during the 1940s, Probber worked briefly as a cabaret singer, but by 1945 he had opened Harvey Probber, Inc.
