About the Item

This former 19th Century Chicken/Bird cage would have once been used to protect poultry, now it presents as a characterful side table with handy storage. Constructed from solid oak, it has four pillar corner posts that extend above the top, providing a castle like effect. All four side having small steel bars approximately 3/4 inch apart, the door to one side opening outward to a sizable storage compartment, ideal for books, cushions or even a small log store. Lovely aged patina and character to the wood, with a rich warm tone and lighter shades to the top. An unusual piece that provides interest, useful size and height, ideally suited as a side table, or a bathroom table for towel storage. In good sturdy condition, clean and ready for installation.
