About the Item

We kindly suggest you read the entire description, as it provides detailed technical and historical information to ensure the authenticity of our objects. A peculiar and original sofa table, on the rectangular-shaped wooden top with rounded corners, has been placed a black glass decorated from below with designs representing a pleasant and graceful Japanese landscape;. In the foreground, a geisha in a characteristic kimono sits on a bench surrounded by flowers and plants. In the distance, a temple and the silhouette of the iconic Mount Fuji, Japan's sacred mountain, can be seen. The gold and red lettering stands out nicely against the black glass. A brass band runs along the entire edge of the table. The legs are made of black-painted wood and are especially notable for their brass finials, which are movable (see photo) and allow the table to remain perfectly stable, even on uneven floors. The "Rene" model refers to a coffee table created in the 1950s, designed to be placed next to a sofa, so it is not very tall. Initially, it was offered with a kidney-shaped top made from various materials such as colored glass, mosaics, Formica, and wood. Over time, different shapes were also introduced, but the name remained the same. The design of this model strikes a balance between minimalism and sophistication, making these coffee tables adaptable to various needs. Our coffee table was crafted between 1960 and 1965 in an artisan workshop in Verona, Veneto (Italy). Veneto, a region in northeastern Italy, is known for its rich tradition of producing high-quality furniture. Several historic areas in Veneto have been important centers of furniture production for centuries. Verona, in particular, has a long tradition of woodworking and producing high-quality furniture. Over the centuries, the city has been an important center for furniture craftsmanship, with skilled carpenters known for their elegant and refined creations. The minimalist and sophisticated design, characterized by clean and essential lines, gives our Rene coffee table an aura of modernity and elegance. The sofa table is in good condition. Qing Dynasty-Style Set of 4 Chinese Wooden Nesting Side Tables
Located in Prato, Tuscany
Please carefully read the complete description below, where we provide technical and historical details to ensure the authenticity of our items. This is an original set of four Chinese side tables crafted from black lacquered oak. Known as nesting or interlocking tables, these pieces fit into one another and have a long tradition in China as both functional and decorative furniture. The production of high-quality furniture, including nesting tables, is historically associated with the Suzhou region, renowned for its fine craftsmanship and classical Chinese-style furniture. Interlocking wooden side tables were especially popular during the Qing Dynasty (1644-1912), although their use dates back to earlier times. This particular set dates from the late Qing Dynasty, between 1902 and 1905, and was crafted in the Suzhou region by skilled cabinetmakers who executed precise, intricate geometric carvings under each table top. These geometric patterns represent auspicious symbols in Chinese culture and reflect traditional decorative motifs. The tables are made of sturdy oak, ideal for durable furniture, and finished with a black lacquer. The oak used originates from the mountainous northern regions of China, such as Shanxi and Shandong. Stackable and space-saving, nesting tables are perfect for rooms where space optimization is essential. When needed, they can be easily separated and used individually as tea tables...

Wrought Iron Italian Wall Console Table with Wooden Top
Located in Prato, Tuscany
We kindly suggest that you read the entire description, as it provides detailed technical and historical information to guarantee the authenticity of our objects. This elegant and refined Italian wrought iron wall console table features an exceptional curvilinear and slender design, aesthetically and symmetrically perfect. The upper top is made of high-quality wood painted black, with few decorative elements that are simple and rationally distributed. This model has the convenient feature of being fixed to the wall by means of two small perforated plates welded to the back edge of the console table (see photo), ensuring the piece of furniture is permanently solid and stable. The console table was created between 1930 and 1935 in an ironworking workshop in the Santo Spirito district of Florence, Tuscany, Italy. Since ancient times, this part of the city has been the vibrant center of Florence's craftsmanship. Florence has a long history of metalworking, dating back to the Renaissance, when it was an important center for the production of wrought iron. Florentine craftsmen were renowned for their intricate designs and high-quality ironwork, often used for furniture, gates, and architectural elements. Italian wrought iron consoles have a rich history and are admired for their craftsmanship, elegance, and durability. The evolution of these pieces reflects broader trends in art, architecture, and interior design in Italy, particularly in Tuscany. The use of wrought iron dates back to antiquity, but during the late medieval period, Italian blacksmiths began to perfect their skills, creating functional and decorative artifacts, including furniture. The Renaissance (14th-17th centuries) was a significant period for art and craftsmanship in Italy. Wealthy patrons, inspired by classical antiquity, commissioned intricate wrought iron work for their homes and public buildings. Tuscany during the Renaissance was the world center for art, culture, science, and crafts. During the Baroque period (17th-18th centuries), wrought iron consoles became more extravagant, featuring bold and dramatic designs with heavy ornamentation. Neoclassicism (late 18th-early 19th century) brought a return to simplicity and classical inspiration; wrought iron furniture had decorative elements inspired by ancient Greece and Rome. From the 19th to the early 20th century, ironwork saw a mix of styles, including the revival of earlier periods and the introduction of new trends such as Art Nouveau, with organic, flowing lines and patterns inspired by nature. In the 20th century, wrought iron console tables continued to evolve, blending traditional craftsmanship with modern design principles. Mid-century modern styles (1920-1950) favored a more minimalist design, with simple, clean lines and functional forms. Wrought iron furniture could incorporate glass and wood. Italian wrought iron console tables were traditionally made by skilled blacksmiths using techniques passed down through generations. This involved heating the iron in forges and shaping it with a hammer and anvil. Italian wrought iron console tables are often considered functional works of art, serving practical purposes while acting as focal points in a room. This particular type of table is versatile and suits a variety of settings, from classic to contemporary. Antique wrought iron console tables...
