Frédérique Domergue has poured all her craftsmanship into the creation of this one-of-a-kind piece, which was first presented at the prestigious Révélations show in Paris in 2023. The Pebble Table #2 is carved in slatted oak which is sheathed with (patinated and waxed) zinc. The tray is made of polished and varnished pink copper. Dimensions : H 50 cm x L 80 cm x D 60 cm // H 19.7 in x L 31.5 in x D 23.6 in. Edition of 8 This table is part of set of two. The indicated price corresponds to Pebble Table #2 only. Both tables (Pebble Table #1 and Pebble Table #2) can also be bought together: contact us for price. Over nearly 20 years, French artist Frédérique Domergue has created a unique body of work based on combinations of metal and rare wood species. She learned traditional woodworking and metalworking techniques from master artisans, and quickly developed her own skillful approaches, especially metal cladding which has become her hallmark. Frédérique Domergue uses thin sheets of metal that hug the contours of the wood (which she sometimes sculpts beforehand) to create a "second skin". The artist creates astonishing effects by transforming metal into a material that appears supple and elastic. She draws on her extensive expertise with a wide range of metals (bronze, zinc, titanium, steel, etc.) to achieve surprising results. She sometimes uses oxidation techniques that lend sheets of zinc or bronze warm, sensual hues that shift with the light. Her entirely hand-made pieces take on a patina over time as the unexpected alchemy of the materials reveals an array of subtle, distinguished tones. The passion that drives her, the curiosity that propels her toward new worlds and the care she brings to finishing her pieces have enabled Frédérique Domergue to produce a singular oeuvre that allies excellence, innovation, esthetics and audacity.

Meltdown Bench, 5-Seater Blue by Tom Price, Contemporary
By Tom Price
Located in PARIS, FR
'Meltdown Bench, 5-seater Blue' is a piece by English artist Tom Price, from the Meltdown Series. Unlimited edition. Available on commission only. This bench is made entirely from polypropylene rope, no other material is added. The artist starts its creation by rolling up the rope around a ball – which is later removed, and then he presses a part of the rope ball on a heated metal seat-shaper former. The rope melts and, when it cools and subsequently hardens, the shape of the seat is created. Tom Price thus alters the structural and aesthetic qualities of the plastic material, giving rise to interesting contrasts in texture and form within the same object. Launched in 2007, the Meltdown Series earned Tom Price widespread international acclaim for his innovative production processes and eye-catching approach to working with commonplace plastic products. The way of assembling the plastic material and the mostly unpredictable patterns created by the heating method ensure that every piece is unique and unrepeatable. This design pieces are true sculptural objects, while at the same time being fully functional and very robust. Meltdown Chairs are included in the permanent collections of several Museums, including SFMOMA San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (US), the Denver Art Museum (US), The Nelson Atkins Museum (US), Chatsworth House (UK), MKG Hamburg (Germany) and the Amore Pacific Museum (South Korea). Works from the Meltdown Series have been exhibited extensively throughout the USA, South America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. They have been included in many high-profile museum exhibitions, including SFMOMA San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (US), MAD Museum of Art and Design New York (US); The Mint Museum (US); Denver Art Museum (US); Design Museum Holon (Israel); Design Museum Gent (Belgium); NRW Forum Dusseldorf (Germany); The Latvian National Museum of Art in Riga (Latvia). They have also featured at international art and design fairs, including Design Miami Basel (Switzerland); Sao Paolo Design Festival (Brazil); Cheongju International Craft Biennale (South Korea), Design Days Dubai (United Arab Emirates); Gwangju Biennale (South Korea) and Lodz International Design Biennale (Poland). Finally, the series has been featured in multiple publications, including: The Campaign for Art...
