Chinese 19th C. Leather Wrapped Trunk on Wood Base 'or Great Drinks Table'
Located in Atlanta, GA
A Chinese leather-wrapped wooden trunk with brass and nail-head accents from the 19th century, and raised on a vintage wood stand. This coffer from China has a rectangular-shape body, decorated with brass banding nicely outlining and defining the edges, brass nail-head stud accents, and pulls at either short end. The brass is a wonderful contrast to the warm, patina of the leather. It gains height by being raised and displayed upon a vintage wood base with squared legs and petite inward-turned feet. This 19th century Chinese raised trunk...

French Game Table Napoleon III Period - Louis XV Style - 19th Century - France
Located in Beuzevillette, FR
Very nice game table on high legs style Louis XV from the Napoleon 3 period of the 19th century. The wood is finely inlaid with floral and vegetal motifs. The legs are curved, the tips of the legs are in metal, while metal decorations are present on the tops of the legs.
The table opens to the depth and rotates to the length. The game board, once opened, is held in place by a drawer that opens on the right side (also serving as storage for the games).
The table top measures 116cm (45.6 inch) x 58cm (22.8 inch)
Very fine and sophisticated work, this table will give elegance to any type of interior decoration.
The Louis XIV style is a furnishing style covering more or less the period of the reign of Louis XIV (1661 to 1715).
This style is characterized by the majesty and richness of its furnishings.
The Louis XIV style follows the Louis XIII style. The furniture is increasingly luxurious, but unlike previous styles, it is almost no longer inspired by architecture. There are two kinds of furniture: ceremonial furniture richly decorated with veneers and inlays (especially with André-Charles Boulle), solid giltwood and bourgeois furniture in solid wood.
The style is characterized above all by its absolute symmetry and an important and ostentatious Dimension. The Louis XIV style is of Italian and ancient inspiration.
The style emerged with the advent of the reign of Louis XIV in 1661 and lasted until the end of the 17th century. In 1690, on the death of Lebrun, decorator to the King, the style declined and was gradually replaced by the Regency style.
The Palace of Versailles is obviously extremely and lastingly marked by the Louis XIV style. His long reign made it possible to impose the unique style of the Grand...

Exquisite Victorian Hardwood Military Campaign Writing Slope Desk & Later Stand
Located in West Sussex, Pulborough
We are delighted to offer for sale this absolutely stunning original Antique Victorian Mahogany & Brass Military Campaign writing slope with later stand
What a find, if you are in the market for this type of luxury antique militaria then look no further, this is the finest example I have personally seen. The timber patina is glorious, it’s a very old type of mahogany, most likely Cuban. The brass fixtures and fittings all operate perfectly and are flawlessly mounted
The stand has been made at a later date to showcase and protect the piece, it is now the size of a normal side table. The writing slope itself has some interesting features, the top can be sat at a 45 degree angle for reading, there is a piece of beaded wood that slots into the two front holes, this holds and seats whatever literature you wish to rest there. The large side drawer is locked in place by a long metal rod, this rod also stops the drawer from coming all the way out. You have two internal document storage sections and various stationary cubby’s.
The writing slope is baize lined and on the underside of the base you have a crosshatched silk ripped design which has been studded in place. This is exactly the same as antique LV steamer...

Swedish Late Gustavian Period Small Console W/Marble in Unique Colors
Located in Atlanta, GA
A Swedish late Gustavian petite console table, with stunning marble top and secondary platform shelf, from the late 18th to early 19th century. This smaller-sized antique table from Sweden has a particularly beautiful marble top, rectangular in shape, in a goldenrod color. The marble top rests upon an apron with scrolling foliate motif carved about three sides and framed within petite bead trim. Each corner is embellished with a large carved sunflower head just above the legs. The table is presented upon four round and fluted legs, with profiled knees, which taper gently towards their feet. A lower display platform (with a green faux marble hand-painted finish) shelf is positioned at underside of the table, braced just above the feet. Note that the table height varies as it is 31" at back and 30.5" towards the front. This late Gustavian period Swedish marble-top table, with smaller footprint of (approximately) 2.5 foot width, would make for a fabulous little entry table, an accent table for a hall/stair landing...

Sèvres Porcelain-Mounted Bureau Plat
Located in New Orleans, LA
Form and function converge in this exceptional Louis XV-style bureau plat graced with eight elegant Sèvres Porcelain plaques. Framing these delightful, hand painted floral and fowl-themed plaques is a network of exquisite gilt bronze. Supporting the leather-topped table are graceful cabriole legs, a hallmark of fine Louis XV taste, that are crowned by gilt bronze caryatids and terminate in gilt bronze mounts. What makes this desk even more stunning is the inclusion of three concealed drawers that are opened only by the spring-loaded secret release mechanisms located underneath.
The first porcelain mounted furnishings appeared sometime in the mid-18th century in the shops of the foremost Parisian art dealers. These furnishings successfully, and quite beautifully, married renowned Sèvres Porcelain with fine furniture to create a new segment of the decorative arts that appealed greatly to the aristocracy, especially women. The Duchesse de Mazarin, Comtesse du Barry, Marie-Antoinette and the Grand Duchess Maria...
