Onyx and Brass Bamboo Tilt-Top Table
About the Item
Beyond Gorgeosity presents this one-of-a-kind tilt-top table, crafted entirely by hand in our own studio. We selected a specimen of beautifully veined and colored Italian onyx for the round base and tilt top which we polished and banded in 24-karat gold plated brass. The bamboo form pedestal stem is lathe turned brushed solid brass which has also been electroplated in 24-karat gold, including the tilt mechanism and 1950s Italian finial which turns to release or secure top in the position you desire.
Weighs approximately 75 pounds so it is very stable.
Measures: Height of table is 29 inches but can be shortened upon request.
Diameter of top is 20 inches. Diameter of base is 11 inches.

One of my favorite lamps. I love the atomic mace-like sputnik starburst ball of spikes seeming to hover above the crisp round brass conical base.
It is unclear who originally made it. Some say Laurel or Stiffel. I believe it was Mutual Sunset Lamp Company but have yet to find documentation.
My only grievance with the original is that the material was not real brass; it was cast aluminum with a brass finish which is prone to wear off...
