About the Item
A bold vibrant and textural abstract painting by artist Jason Stallings. “Abstract Improvisation #1” is a mixed media painting that makes heavy use of a textural watercolor ground along with vibrant uses of oil pastel, acrylic, and oil paint. The water based layers were laid down first and the oil based mediums were laid down in the final stages. Oranges and purples make up a prominent feature in this piece with hints of golds and other colors. This piece has an unencumbered freely associated energy.
This painting was developed between 2020 and 2021. This painting was one of two chosen by the Mayor of the City of Dallas to hang in a juried exhibition in the mayor's office of the city hall of Dallas, Texas in 2024.
