About the Item

Having started in Sweden, the company opened up in America in 1888 as the "De Laval Cream Separator Company" in New York City, with a production plant in Poughkeepsie, New York. They promptly opened up branches in Chicago, Philadelphia, Seattle, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Montreal, and Winnipeg Canada; as their product, the cream separator, achieved broad based demand in the dairy farming industry This tin advertising sign represents their most iconic marketing endeavor and is one of several highly sought after tin advertising pieces manufactured during the turn of the century period. It clearly documents and illustrates exactly the product they are advertising "De Laval Cream Separators", along with their business locations. It also implies suitability for all cows with illustrations of some of the more prominent cows and their locale (see close up images). This is a near mint condition sign in beautiful and bright colorful graphics, just about "as good as it gets", in a handsome period, gold leaf frame. The heavy tin, dent free, and sharp clear bright colors make it one of the best condition examples of this sign extant; guaranteed to please the most discerning collector. It has been in my collection for over twenty years. Measures: 37 3/4" high; 27" wide x 3 1/2" deep (with frame) Actual sign is 31" high  x 27" wide Provenance: Clive Devenish Collection since 1999. *Note: See other outstanding tin advertising signs I have for sale.
