Male And Female Nudes: A Pair Of Figurative Ceramic Panels, Fred Tuynman, b.1938
About the Item
A pair of figurative tile panels, each consisting of eight tiles per panel representing two male and two female bodies. On one panel the lower part of a male figure is seen from behind, while another male leg is seen in the background, from a person facing the figure in the front. The other panel is showing two female figures, one placed behind the other, seen in profile, focusing on the middle part of the body. Both panels are constructed of handmade roughened ceramic tiles, glazed in fresh tones of brown, skin colour, grey and blue. Both panels are set in aluminium frames.
Fred Tuynman (also written as Tuijnman) is a Dutch artist born in The Hague in 1938. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rotterdam. He currently lives and works in Spain. Tuynman is mostly known for his bronze sculptures of humans and animals and received numerous public commissions in the past. His outdoor sculptures can be found in several places in The Netherlands.
