About the Item
This depiction of two Native American men in full headdresses, dancing in the company of three women, arm in arm, is evidence of Western Europe's fascination with American Indian culture, dress and way of life. The artist, Jean Target, uses a vivid mix of watercolor, gouache and crayon in brilliant tones of red, tan and brown. Target, a young man in the 1930s, loved to capture the color and movement of ballet and native dance and this piece is one of several offered by Renaissance Man. The drawing is signed in the lower righthand corner.
