From a series of 6, original drawing evoking a sun-drenched village of the Drôme Provence, the artists refuge since the mid-1960s.
Condition is excellent except for slight edge curling, the back of the frame has tarnish and snags.
About the Artist :
Alice Colonieu - b.1924 d.2010 - is a French ceramicist trained at the École des Beaux-Arts in Marseille.
Since the mid-1940s, she has expressed her talent through a vigorous and highly personal body of work, drawing inspiration from both Baroque and Classicism, which she revisits with great freedom.
Regularly exhibiting at the Salon des Arts Décoratifs in Paris in the early 1950s, she presented her ceramics at the first Cannes International Ceramics Festival in 1955 and was noticed by leading French decorators such as Maurice Rinck and Jean Royère.
Jules Leleu commissioned her to create two ceramic panels decorating the swimming pool of the Pierre Loti ocean liner.
Her work is exhibited at the Musée National d'Art Moderne in Paris and at the Musée International de la Céramique in Faenza.
Alice Colonieu ceased her ceramic production in the mid-1960s to settle in Roaix, in the Vaucluse region, where she explored painting and book illustration.
