This portrait evokes the work of Carl Van Loo (1705-1765). In particular, see in “La Cène” (Last Meal), Arras, Musée des Beaux-Arts, the disciple seated to the right of Christ. That painting is a study for the paintings of the choir of Santa Croce in Turin (“Les Van Loo, fils d’Abraham,” Catalogue of the Exhibition in the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Nice, Nov. 2000- Feb. 2001).
