The caption of this charming pen and ink, watercolor and gouache vignette reads
"A troupe of Eastern Entertainers taken from diary of G. Copeland 1830."
Perhaps a rememberance from a grand tour, the four costumed subjects are exacuted with great detail and beautiful strong colors. They are outlined in silk ribbon with tiny pouf decoration and are double matted in a contemporary gold wooden frame.
The site line of the four individual paintings measure 5 inches x 5 inches.
