About the Item
A very decorative, vintage, landscape painting sourced in France. This oil painting on stretched canvas is signed by artist, G. Paël, in the lower right corner (see photo). The artwork is not dated but most likely dates from around the 1930s. The painting features a very colorful landscape in early spring - the mountain top in the background is still covered in snow. The painting has been sourced in Alsace, in north-eastern France and the mountain could possibly be the Vosges mountains seen from the Plain of Alsace.
The artwork has been painted on what looks to be a home-made, stretched canvas frame (see back). It has been framed in an impressive, large, wood frame that has a painted in a distressed grey and white finish, quite typical for the 1930s.
In good vintage condition. The painting has not been cleaned, I leave that decision up to the new owner. No holes, major scratches or repairs in the canvas. No structural issues or instabilities. Minor signs of wear consistent with age (see photos).
