Preliminary study of the classical theme and recurring motif in French art, “the pleasure of a picnic”. The 19th century sketch, executed in oil on board, illustrates, beautifully symbolist figures in an idyllic genre scene. This small painting, which masterfully captures the essence and story of the subject, is attributed to the French muralist Pierre Puvis de Chavannes.
It is in very good condition.
