Offered for sale is an painting on board by Spanish/Puerto Rican artist Angel Botello (June 20, 1913 – November 11, 1986). The work is presented in a hand carved frame by Teofilo Batista and is signed in the lower right. Art, 11.5"W by 14"H. Ángel Botello was a Spanish-Puerto Rican painter, sculptor and graphic artist and is considered one of the greatest Latin American post-modern artists. Botello never attached to any particular artistic school or movement as he developed his own artistic style. He was a versatile artist who worked in many artistic medias: oil paintings, drawing, printmaking, bronze sculptures, wood carving, photography and mosaics.

Angel Botello
Ángel Botello (June 20, 1913 - November 11, 1986) was a Spanish-Puerto Rican painter, sculptor, and graphic artist. He was dubbed "The Caribbean Gauguin" for his bold colors and depictions of island life. Botello is considered one of the greatest Latin American post-modern artists, and recognition and demand for his artwork continue to grow today, fetching unprecedented auction prices. Ángel Botello was never attached to any particular artistic school or movement and was a protean artist: he developed his artistic style. Botello was a versatile and many-sided artist who worked in all creative media at his reach: oil paintings, drawing, printmaking, bronze sculptures, wood carving, photography, and mosaics.

Servando Cabrera Moreno. b. in Havana, Cuba (1923–1981). He graduated from the San Alejandro Academy after completing studies at the Art Student’s League in NY and La Grande Chaumière in Paris. His first individual exhibition took place at the Lyceum, Havana in 1943. He has also participated in many biennials in Venice, Mexico, and São Paulo as well as other collective exhibitions. Stylistically, his paintings are rooted in the tradition of Vanguardia and are especially indebted to the work of Carlos Enríquez Gómez.
