The painting is dated 1902 and signed by Médard Tytgat.
It is a beautiful scene, the dog poses in a calm and friendly way, in a homely setting. The dog has a beautiful expression on its face, the black fur is painted in a beautiful way, very accurate.
The painting is in good and original condition.

About the artist:
Médard Siegfried Tytgat. Belgium, 1871-1948
Tytgat was a painter, lithographer and poster designer. Older brother of Edgard Tytgat. Educated at the Academy in Bruges and Brussels. Painter of portraits, nudes and landscapes. Was co-founder of "Kring Labeur". Various works in the city hall of Brussels. Mentioned in "Lexicon" by West Flemish sculpture artists. (Source: De Belgische Beeldende kunstenaars, Paul Piron)
