Art Deco 1940s Botanical Still Life Painting
About the Item
Atmospheric pastel original still life in original period frame and displayed under glass; almost 100 years old. Signed illegibly to lower right and wired for wall display.
A very pretty Art Deco original piece of art acquired in the Colorado mountains from a historic estate, filled with only rich, important, quality pieces.
This is framed in a quality wood custom frame. The colors and subject feel appropriate to the era and have a stillness and calmness, rendered in oil pastel. The soft greens, peach and ivory colors of the plant sit in a terra cotta planter on a table surface. The background has been abstracted, which gives a more modern feel to the piece than the era might normally portray, simplifying the overall composition.
